FT Bands Chicken BBQ Update

*AWBB Chicken BBQ*
Our final public performance of the year for the 5th and 6th grade bands
will take place at the annual bands Chicken BBQ on Saturday, May 20th at
the AWHS Main Gym. This is a fun performance where ALL bands from AW play
throughout the day and the Anthony Wayne Band booster organization
sells chicken dinners as a fundraiser. The 5th grade band performs at
6:00pm and the 6th grade band will perform at 5:00pm. Students should wear
their blue band shirt and whatever kind of pants/shorts/skirts they would
like on the bottom. Students who are unable to attend should have a parent
contact Mr. Ladd (5th grade) or Mr. Young (6th grade) as soon as possible.

*Chicken BBQ Report Times*
Students will report to the Auxiliary Gym (161) at the HS to assemble
instruments and prepare for the performance. See the attached map for help
finding the Auxiliary gym.
6th Grade: Report at 4:40pm to Aux Gym, Perform at 5:00pm in Main Gym
5th Grade: Report at 5:40pm to Aux Gym, Perform at 6:00pm in Main Gym

Students are officially free to go as soon as their performance is over,
but we would HIGHLY encourage the FT band students to stay after their
performance to hear the High School Symphonic Band or Symphonic Winds that
follow with performance at 5:30 or 6:30pm. This would be a great
opportunity for the younger students to hear our advanced high school
players and get some free musical inspiration. All performances are free
and open to the public.

Here is the full performance schedule for the Chicken BBQ…
2:00pm JH Jazz Band
2:30pm Royal Blue Jazz Band
3:00pm 7th Grade Band
3:30pm General’s Staff Jazz Band
4:00pm 8th Grade Band
4:30pm HS Concert Band
5:00pm 6th Grade Band
5:30pm HS Symphonic Band
6:00pm 5th Grade Band

*5th Grade FULL BAND Rehearsals*
In order to prepare for the chicken BBQ performance we are going to have
full 5th grade band rehearsals during the school day on Wednesday and
Thursday during the normal band FLEX-time next week (5/17 and 5/18). This
will mean that brass/percussion students will need to bring their
instruments next Wednesday (in addition to their normal Tuesday/Thursday
schedule). Woodwinds will need to bring their instruments on Thursday (in
addition to their normal Monday/Wednesday schedule).pdf icon AWHS-MAP.pdf

5/7 FT Band Update

We are back on our normal band schedule. Woodwinds: Monday and Wednesday.
Brass/Perc: Tuesday and Thursday. 6th grade full band on Friday. Students
need to make sure they have their instrument and music on the correct days.

*Friends and Patrons Fundraiser*
Friends and Patrons ends this week! Students should bring in their forms on
either Monday or Tuesday. The “Friends and Patrons” drive has become our
most profitable fundraiser and allows the boosters to keep 100% of the
proceeds. Donors have the option of having their name listed as a band
supporter in the Fall Sports program as well as the programs for all band
concerts for the 2017-2018 school year. You can find more information and
download the F&P form at awbands.com/support/donate/

Upcoming Performances

*6th Grade Band Concert for 4th Graders*
On Friday, May 5th, the 6th grade band will perform a daytime concert for
the current 4th grade students from Waterville, Monclova, and Whitehouse

4th graders and kicks off the instrument fitting process. 6th grade band
students need to make sure they have their instrument, music, and blue FT
band t-shirt (any pants/skirt are fine for this performance).

have the option of having their name listed as a band supporter in the Fall
Sports program as well as the programs for all band concerts for the

FT Band Update 4/10

FT Band Parents,

Attached is a summary of what we will be working on in band at FT over the
next few weeks. Students should practice the items listed in order to be
prepared for class. The “new” songs that are listed will be passed out in
class this week.

*Band Concert Recap*
Thanks to everyone for your help and flexibility in making our band concert
possible. It is unusual to have one concert cancelled in a year, but to
have TWO concerts cancelled and rescheduled is unheard of. I truly
appreciate everyone’s willingness to move plans around so that the students
could have an opportunity to perform.

*AWBB Chicken BBQ*
Our final public performance of the year for the 5th and 6th grade bands
